Citizens Organized for Reasonable Routes Enhancing Community Traffic & Safety non- non-partisan, nonprofit, member-supported public interest organization that promotes Traffic and Safety issues by influencing public policy decisions: legislative, administrative, legal, and electoral. A community organization dedicated to providing a central place to review Park Ridge Traffic and Safety issues with its citizens and their elected Representatives and City's management. To practice and promote the responsible use of our roads, traffic systems and resources. To educate and enlist citizens to protect and restore the quality of our auto and pedestrian traffic as one of our cherished human environments in Park Ridge. CORRECTS - Citizens Organized for Reasonable Routes Enhancing Community Traffic & Safety believes that citizen's pedestrian safety, auto safety and reasonable routes comes first in city traffic. That before adding a traffic signal or traffic signals which generates slow traffic, bumper-to-bumper traffic, traffic gridlock, traffic complaints, traffic crashes, traffic signs, traffic bottleneck, automobile traffic, traffic congestion, rush hour traffic, bumper to bumper traffic, traffic congestion, rush hour traffic and automobile traffic, that a Park Ridge Alderman and/or Park Ridge Aldermen, should require a traffic study to avoid this auto traffic scenario in Park Ridge, Illinois. Only reasonable auto traffic should be permitted to provide reasonable routes with traffic safety and avoid traffic accidents, traffic injuries, pedestrian injuries, auto accidents, traffic problems, which will also decrease pedestrian traffic in Park Ridge and thus negatively affect retail sales and our quality of life. We encourage Park Ridge citizens to register and for all voters to vote only for a Park Ridge Alderman / Park Ridge Aldermen Park Ridge Mayor that promises to ensure Reasonable Routes and City Traffic Safety. Today’s Park Ridge City Policy of waiting for citizens to first be injured, maimed and dead, while creating a serious crisis of traffic congestion, in traffic routes and hurting existing retail businesses, is unacceptable. CORRECTS holds itself out as an Open Forum to provide an opportunity for citizens and organizations to inform the public of events, issues or projects. This will allow you to report anything you wish to see addressed or answered regarding traffic anywhere in Park Ridge. Your input on this issue if vital to all of us. Please review and advise us of what you think of the concepts and what you prefer. We need your input to inform and advise. Check out our Park Ridge Traffic and Safety series of forums and speak out.

Mayoral Candidates:

CORRECTS Endorsement for Mayor

Howard P. Frimark

Howard Frimark

HIGHEST Action Based Rating We Can Give

CORRECTS for Traffic & Safety reasons strongly endorses for Mayor:

  • Frimark supports the need to wisely enhance the City "target" areas.

  • Frimark was an Alderman to formally go on record before the Planning and Zoning Commission (P & Z) and question the traffic study and its impact.

  • Frimark addressed concern over increased traffic expected on Greenwood between Touhy and Elm at the P & Z hearings.

  • Frimark recommended planning for the future of a Cumberland viaduct to provide a direct north / south bypass route. Improving business traffic for the Uptown area viability to the P & Z.

  • Frimark expressed an interest in tweaking the proposed traffic plan.

  • Frimark was the only Alderman who expressed concern for the Summit and Touhy pedestrian crossing and traffic.

  • Frimark would have liked to have reviewed the Summit Retirement Traffic Consultant's study which was scrapped.

  • Uptown Redevelopment should be intelligently integrated within all of Uptown and its surroundings. So as to provide a pleasant retail, cultural and social signature landmark. Which requires adequate  transportation and foot traffic and a feeling of safety and pleasure.

Frimark's Mayoral opponent never expressed any statement, question or comment on Traffic & Safety in public or to CORRECTS. He supports waiting until the problem has to be dealt with.

Local businessman

E-mail Kirke Machon

Kirk Machon has been endorsed by David Schmidt who "vigorously opposes the closing of Meacham Avenue and asks how sending a far heavier volume of traffic their way, while at the same time cutting off their only reasonable access to Touhy, will do anything other than reduce their quality of life." and believes that Kirke will do all he can in this area. Thus his general information is within Kirke Machon's section and detail about David Schmidt can be found by clicking on his announcement. Since Machon supports David Schmidt's view, we are raising his rating, awaiting Machon's confirmation:

- David Schmidt

Schmidt feels that our city government’s undue haste in approving large-scale developments without considering the effect on the overall quality of life of its citizens is detrimental representation.

He vigorously opposes the closing of Meacham Avenue and asks how sending a far heavier volume of traffic their way, while at the same time cutting off their only reasonable access to Touhy, will do anything other than reduce their quality of life.

Schmidt believes too many important decisions are being made behind closed doors by their representatives and is committed to letting residents know what is happening in time for citizens to voice their opinions and have an impact on the outcome.

Schmidt believes careful scrutinizing of the proposed development at Northwest Highway and Greenwood is required as due diligence by elected representatives of Park Ridge citizens.

He would like to help preserve the city’s pedestrian culture by improving crosswalk markings, seeking community input and studying the possibility of building a pedestrian bridge or underpass to allow access across Touhy between the Downtown/Library area and the neighborhoods to the north. This would not only help the downtown businesses but also improve safety for families and senior citizens who find it difficult to navigate this busy intersection now and will find it even harder once the Uptown Development gets going. It could also have the benefit of actually reducing traffic and parking congestion by encouraging people to walk instead of driving downtown and looking for parking. Schmidt believes these are common sense solutions.

-James Radermacher

James Radermacher

HIGHEST Recommendation We Can Give

Retired Chief Financial Officer

James Radermacher cares about the impact traffic has on business and are daily commutes, he also believes pedestrian safety should have reasonable reward risk ratios.

Radermacher has actively attended most Public Meetings to better understand the issues and the processes in reviewing the facts. Radermacher's analysis is fairly objective on Park Ridge issues.

Radermacher believes in open government and is willing to share his views with the public as well as seek input from us.

Excerpts from Jim's speech at CURRB:

"I intend on setting infrastructure as a priority.  Our community should have safe and accessible roads.  Every dollar we waste is another dollar short of fixing an alley, paving a road...

I still believe a strong central retail district is vital. But yet I am troubled by the final outcome of this project. I am troubled by the density of this development. I am troubled by safety issues. And I have from the beginning, questioned the weak return of our tax dollar investment.

We need to insure the long term success of the entirety of our retail districts. This success is dependent on long term planning for infrastructure, parking needs, traffic flow, pedestrian safety, the preservation of our green space and return on our tax dollar investment."
