Citizens Organized for Reasonable Routes Enhancing Community Traffic & Safety non- non-partisan, nonprofit, member-supported public interest organization that promotes Traffic and Safety issues by influencing public policy decisions: legislative, administrative, legal, and electoral. A community organization dedicated to providing a central place to review Park Ridge Traffic and Safety issues with its citizens and their elected Representatives and City's management. To practice and promote the responsible use of our roads, traffic systems and resources. To educate and enlist citizens to protect and restore the quality of our auto and pedestrian traffic as one of our cherished human environments in Park Ridge. CORRECTS - Citizens Organized for Reasonable Routes Enhancing Community Traffic & Safety believes that citizen's pedestrian safety, auto safety and reasonable routes comes first in city traffic. That before adding a traffic signal or traffic signals which generates slow traffic, bumper-to-bumper traffic, traffic gridlock, traffic complaints, traffic crashes, traffic signs, traffic bottleneck, automobile traffic, traffic congestion, rush hour traffic, bumper to bumper traffic, traffic congestion, rush hour traffic and automobile traffic, that a Park Ridge Alderman and/or Park Ridge Aldermen, should require a traffic study to avoid this auto traffic scenario in Park Ridge, Illinois. Only reasonable auto traffic should be permitted to provide reasonable routes with traffic safety and avoid traffic accidents, traffic injuries, pedestrian injuries, auto accidents, traffic problems, which will also decrease pedestrian traffic in Park Ridge and thus negatively affect retail sales and our quality of life. We encourage Park Ridge citizens to register and for all voters to vote only for a Park Ridge Alderman / Park Ridge Aldermen Park Ridge Mayor that promises to ensure Reasonable Routes and City Traffic Safety. Today’s Park Ridge City Policy of waiting for citizens to first be injured, maimed and dead, while creating a serious crisis of traffic congestion, in traffic routes and hurting existing retail businesses, is unacceptable. CORRECTS holds itself out as an Open Forum to provide an opportunity for citizens and organizations to inform the public of events, issues or projects. City Manager Admits Loss of Traffic Control

Whatever Will Be, Will Be...  Que Sera, Sera

Coming just 2 weeks after unanimously approving the sale of Park Ridge property to PRC and approving a special use permit, the Park Ridge City Council officially acknowledged and stated they are no longer in control of Uptown Traffic with PRC or IDOT, despite numerous promises made to the contrary by them and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

At Monday's meeting, City Manager Schuenke stated that neither he nor the City Council can control what PRC will do regarding the traffic and IDOT. Thus, leaving the whole traffic and pedestrian problem to happen as PRC leads, while Park Ridge citizens will suffer from the coming Uptown gridlock, loss of pedestrian traffic, negative affect on Merchants and related auto and pedestrian accidents.

Their lack of commitment to serving the citizens serves as a significant monument to existing bad government in Park Ridge, as they refuse to take any ownership or stewardship on getting traffic right and acceptance of losses.

CORRECTS will maintain records of all accidents and those injured or killed (including deaths occurring following the incident) and will directly peg those to all the individual names of Park Ridge officials who voted for and allowed this travesty to unfold.

Park Ridge officials seem to believe that we live in Walgreen’s “Town of Perfect”, where there is no downside costs or risk. For instance no additional money is allocated to provide police because none will be needed in the new 200 households and assorted retail businesses, that the city has. Of course, we don’t yet live in “Perfect” and having a patrolman available 24 hours costs about $220,000 a year. Just one wrongful death or injury suit could cost us millions and the reconfiguration chosen will probably cause many injuries or deaths. There have already been 2 killed in that area, two lost a leg and one both her legs. In Fontana, CA one accident alone cost the city $28.1 million because "Karen Medina, a student at A.B. Miller High School, was killed on Cypress Avenue in December 2001 when a car driven by a 15-year-old unlicensed driver veered out of control." and the city did not provide safe sidewalks near the schools.

We have heard City Manager Schuenke speak of how Park Ridge will financially benefit, but the truth is we will be lucky to recover our money back and the School Boards would be just as happy without this deal. Further, any PRC building cost overruns are to be paid for by Park Ridge Citizens, Monday, City Manager Schuenke stated PRC does not yet have 65% of the detail plan from PRC to proceed.

CORRECTS believes that progress mean improving the whole picture, including pedestrian walkways and easy access on our roads. This is being significantly hindered rather than fostered by the Park Ridge City Council and is a breach of their oath to serve the citizens of Park Ridge.

Accountable government begins today in Park Ridge, at CORRECTS. We will be keeping score of City Officials on all traffic related issues, long after they leave public office as their deeds unfold their consequences.
